What is PressPlay 2?
PressPlay 2 is the latest version of PressPlay that has now been totally renewed and comes with some new extra features.

PressPlay is a cloud-based software tool to easily “upgrade” your video with additional features by creating a video Player that turns your video into a smart video that you can embed on any web page you control.

Main features of PressPlay 2:

• Different Video Sources. Use free hosted videos from YouTube or Vimeo, or use any (paid) hosted video elsewhere (f.e. Amazon S3).
• Branding. Add a watermark or logo to your videos.
• Video Skins. Choose out of a bunch of video skins.
• Show/Hide Player Elements. Have full control over how the video player controls are showing to the visitor. Even allow the controls to only show after a certain number of visits.
• Video Speed. Choose the speed at which the video plays.
• Resume Playback. Gives your visitor the option to start the video playing exactly where the visitor left off at the prior visit.
• Auto Pause. Ensure that your visitors watch your video, by auto-pausing the video as soon as it’s not visible in their browser. And start playing again when the video is visible again.
• Timed Lead Gate (Opt-in Overlay) within a video (works with any Autoresponder). Set you own background color or capacity for beautiful overlays.
• Timed Call-To-Action Gate. Direct your viewers exactly where you want them to go with a clickable call-to-action embedded within your video.
• Timed Share-Gate. Create a viral buzz about your video, by requiring the visitor to share your video on Facebook in order to watch or continue watching the video.
• Dynamic Videos. Display a new video based upon the choice your viewer makes.
• Embed Anywhere. Simply copy and paste the embed code onto any web page you want.
• [Upcoming] Playlists. Select any number of videos from your PressPlay account and build a playlist that you can easily embed onto any web page.
• Video Insights/Analytics. Measure what matters. Monitor how many people are seeing your videos, measure engagement, and track conversions in an easy-to-read dashboard. As you learn what engages your visitors, you can use those metrics to improve your conversions.
• [Upcoming] Split Testing. Soon, you can conduct an A/B split test between two videos. PressPlay automatically rotates your videos and after a chosen time frame declares a winner for the video that outperforms the other and only shows the winner from that moment.
• You can add these great features to any video you want. To your own hosted videos (Amazon S3 integration), videos from YouTube or any mp4 video you want. Just select the video and go through the options panel.

After you “made your video smart”, you can save your work and embed the video player by adding just a single line of code to any web page you control.

And the good part is that all features have been integrated into the video and can’t be changed by the viewer.

Are there any shortcomings of PressPlay 2?

Well, the software and features are already awesome. And the creators even have promised to add 2 more features in the future. So I cant’ really think of any major shortcomings.
The only 2 cool features I would like to see, are the possibility to add video ads (with skip functionality) and surveys within the video (although you can use the “Dynamic/Interaction” feature to create questions and video funnels based upon the viewer’s respond).
Another feature most video players have and PressPlay lacks, are the social sharing buttons within the video (or border of the video skin). With PressPlay you can create your own sharing buttons (as CTA buttons) but to do so, just takes some time (and of course you can use the Facebook Share Gate option).
Something to consider. PressPlay is a SaaS solution. You won’t get any software yourself. So you have to rely on the creators/sellers that they will keep their services up and running.
As far as I know the seller Mark Thompson has a good reputation and is reliable and trustworthy. I do promote a lot of Mark Thompson’s products and love his products. (For more details about other products sold by Mark see the end of this post.)
